This is where it all begins – book 1 of the epic samurai adventure of staggering proportions — a 17th century story of a disgraced Shogun’s executioner wandering the country as an assassin.
This first volume introduces us to the main character – Ogami Itto.
Ogami Itto is the ‘Lone Wolf’ of the title who has chosen to relinquish his samurai past and travels the land as a master-less samurai with his young son Diagoro.
Diagoro travels in a pram that is armoured and accompanies his father on all the quests.
The 9 stories featured in this first book all focus on the various quests and the tasks that Ogami Itto performs as a ‘sword for hire’. He wanders the land looking for work and jobs, usually assassinations, that he performs for a fee.
The artwork is clean and detailed, and extremely cinematic, and the black and white graphics add to the atmosphere. The fight scenes are bloody, fast, and brutal. The book is about 296 pages long.
This volume includes the following stories:
- Son for Hire, Sword for Hire
