Lone Wolf and Cub - Baby Cart at the River Styx

Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx or Kozure Ōkami: Sanzu no kawa no ubaguruma is the second film in the Lone Wolf and Cub series.

The majority of Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx was used, in conjunction with about 12 minutes from Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengence to create the cult film Shogun Assassin.

Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx was once again directed by Kenji Misumi and stars Tomisaburo Wakayama in the lead role. The story continues with Ogami Ittō wandering the land and living rough with his three-year old son Daigoro – the pair of them travel the land as hired killers.

This films sees Ogami Ittō work for a clan that is creating indigo dye for clothing – their business is in danger as a spy threatens to tell Lord Retsudo Yagyu the secrets of their production line. Lord Retsudo Yagyu is Ogami Ittō arch-nemesis, and ninja are dispatched to kill Ittō.

Without giving any more of the plot away, this film has much more action and fight scenes than the first film, and is highly recommended for any fans of Japanese action cinema. The film was controversial for the high body count throughout.
